Esoteric Europe

From Prague to the cliffs of Cornwall, Europe preserves a geography of wonder that can be read in its stones, its chronicles and its legends. This section guides the reader through the places where history and imagination have been most closely intertwined: the court of Rudolf II, filled with astronomers and alchemists; the megalithic circles of Stonehenge, Avebury and Carnac; the Cathar ruins of Montségur; the Toledo of the medieval translators, which gave back to the West the science and magic of the Arab world. We will meet the Golem of Rabbi Loew, the Parisian house of Nicolas Flamel, the summit of the Brocken linked to Walpurgis Night, and the initiation well of the Quinta da Regaleira. For each place we carefully separate what the documents attest from what tradition tells, because myth too has a history: it is born in a specific age, answers specific needs and deserves to be understood, not merely repeated.
